The Board of Directors at re.alto, part of Elia Group, is pleased to announce the appointments of Alexandre Torreele as CEO and Sam Warburton as COO, effective from July 1st.
re.alto was set up in 2019 by Elia Group to create the first European marketplace for the exchange of energy data, digital products and services via APIs.
The company launched a beta version of the marketplace platform earlier this year that has been tested by a limited number of users. It has attracted interest from energy players looking to increase market visibility and generate new revenue streams through the monetisation of data and digital products.
The appointment of Alexandre Torreele, previously Head of Strategy, Innovation and Digital at Elia Group, and Sam Warburton as COO bolsters the re.alto senior team and signals the company’s strategic ambition ahead of the official launch of its full API platform this summer.
As CEO, Alexandre will now take strategic charge of re.alto and focus on building its position as an innovation leader within energy. In the newly created COO role, Sam Warburton will lead the delivery of the product as it prepares to go to market, having overseen its initial development to date.
Reflecting on his appointment, Alexandre Torreele said: “At a time when digitalisation is emerging as the winner of the post-Coronavirus crisis, re.alto is truly paving the way in accelerating digital transformation through the innovative use of energy data and APIs. I look forward to working closely with the re.alto team and Elia Group to accelerate digitalisation in the sector to support the decarbonisation of the society and create a better world for the generations to come. ”
Alexandre Torreele joined Elia Group in 2013 and has held different positions within corporate strategy, innovation and digital. He was responsible for the innovation management process and put in place a broad ecosystem of partners including start-ups. Prior to Elia, Alexandre worked for APX Group (Power Exchanges) as product manager and was responsible for Business Development. He started his career in consulting firms with a remit spanning risk management, marketing and business development for energy players across the value chain.
Sam Warburton has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. He is an experienced innovator with significant experience in developing and delivering disruptive business models across the energy value chain. He has been successful in senior roles spanning business development, innovation and new product development.
With a strong track record in originating, executing and implementing equity transactions in the energy (wholesale and retail) and venture capital sectors, Sam has also founded and raised funds for his own start-up, Conjoule GmbH, where he was the Managing Director.
