FAQ   (IoT Connectivity/Energy Solution APIs)

The API supports JSON and XML data formats, allowing you to choose the format that best fits your application’s needs.

Our API includes endpoints for retrieving information about charging stations, vehicle specifications, battery status, charging history, and more. Please refer to our API documentation for a full list of available endpoints.

Our platform is designed with exactly that in mind. All endpoints and services work similarly for any type of device, even regardless of the manufacturer or brand. Thanks to the normalisation of the incoming data, all brands and types of devices produce similar datasets.

The documentation can be found here.

Of course you can! re.alto provides the platform and tools required for you to focus on your business.

Yes, we encourage developers to try out our API platform by creating an account for free in our API account centre.

Absolutely. You can contact us for a demo, or when you are familiar with using APIs, you can try out our API platform for free by registering in our accounts centre and by exploring the API documentation.

The default data retention time on our platform is 12 months, but in the end, this will depend on your subscription. This includes both the normalised data as well as the aggregated data.

Our API gateway secures all the information entering/exiting the platform, while access to the data is authorised using OAuth2.

Our TimeSeries databases are encrypted and API services can only be accessed with unique API Client IDs.

re.alto-energy and its products are ISO 27001 certified.

You do! Any device you onboard into your tenant can only be accessed by you. Our API gateway secures all the information entering/exiting the platform, while access to the data is authorised using OAuth2. We will never investigate nor use any of the data you collect using our API platform.

Marketplace FAQ

The re.alto energy data API marketplace is a B2B marketplace for digital energy products and services, delivered via APIs. It acts as a sales channel for providers to monetise their energy data and for users/consumers to subscribe to APIs and access the energy data they require.

A provider’s digital products are uploaded to the re.alto marketplace, where consumers can then browse and subscribe to these product/s (via APIs).

Our platform is compatible with web-based (HTTP), ideally REST APIs. SOAP is also supported.

We currently do not support message queues or other binary formats.

Browse/search for an API you would like to connect to. Click on “get access” to connect to an API. If the API is free, it does not require an access request and you can test it out immediately.

For all other APIs, you will be asked for some information about your company/use case. The request is then sent to the provider to approve or reject. Once the API provider accepts your subscription request, you must accept the provider’s T&C and you will then receive a subscription key and be able to access the API.

In most cases, yes.

If you want to have one central module to manage all your subscriptions, you can transfer your existing subscription to re.alto. Please contact us at Contact Us, so we can arrange this setup for you and your product provider.

Follow the guidelines outlined within the specific API’s documentation regarding endpoints and parameters.

For authentication/authorisation, all requests made to a specific API must include the subscription key in the header. The header key must be “Ocp-Apim-Subscription-Key” with the value being the subscription key.

No, re.alto is not a reseller of digital products.  re.alto simply acts as a sales channel.

Each product provider lists their own specific terms and conditions for using their API, as well as the applicable pricing for the use of the product. The commercial agreement is between the provider and user.

You’re a provider but do not yet have an API? Our consulting team is happy to help you. Please reach out to us and a member of the re.alto team will get back to you asap:  Contact Us

Yes. An advantage of the re.alto approach is that the data provider must approve any user requesting access to their data before the user is able to access that API. The provider can easily see any pending access requests plus any additional information provided by the user (ie: their company/use case) in their re.alto account and can then accept or reject the request/s as they see fit. This means that the provider retains full control over who has access to their product.

Each provider also sets their own T&C for using their product, which users must agree to before being granted access.

Note: This does not currently apply to free APIs.

Reach out to us via Contact Us.  On your request, we will revoke that user’s access to your product.

For all paid APIs, users will have to request access before being able to begin using the API. This gives providers the opportunity to screen users before accepting their access request in the first place. Users must then agree to a provider’s T&C before being able to access the API.

It is necessary to provide users of your data with a set of Terms and Conditions.

You may create your own or we can provide you with a standard template, which is based on the European Open Data Licence.

If you have a question or a specific requirement, please contact us via Contact Us.

Yes, you most likely will have to change some parts of your standard product licence for use on re.alto.

For instance, consumers will no longer be reaching out to your base URL directly, rather they will connect to your service via re.alto’s gateway. Billing and payment will also be handled through re.alto, so you don’t have to worry about that anymore.

If you have any questions related to the compatibility of your terms & conditions with the functionality of the re.alto portal, please simply contact us via Contact Us.

re.alto will manage the billing and settlement of products on the platform. You will initially be invoiced per transaction. You’ll then receive a monthly credit note/self-bill as a provider for all your sales on the re.alto marketplace.

re.alto uses Stripe for facilitating payments, which allows a direct transfer from the consumer to the provider. It is currently obligatory for providers to open a free Stripe account for this purpose.

Listing your API on the re.alto Marketplace is free and is a great way to generate more interest in your product. This “shop window” set-up means that users can discover your item, but if you do not make a sale, you will not pay us anything! For successful sales, re.alto takes 20% of all sales made through the marketplace portal.

No sale, no fee.

To list your product on the marketplace, we will create a product listing. This page will act as your “shop window” for your product. The more information you can provide about the API, the better the product listing will look and the easier it will be for users to understand what your product offers them.

This includes a description of the API and what it can do, and some bullet points about why consumers should use this API (the benefits). We can also include images or a video relating to your product and some information about the company. We will also need to know your pricing plans and whether you want to offer users a free trial.

For the technical integration, we will need the API documentation / any docs explaining how to use your API (Swagger/OpenAPI file works best).

We also offer providers the option to simply “billboard” their product initially. This means we would create the product listing on the marketplace but not complete the technical integration unless there is sufficient interest in your product.

Changes can be made on the “Your Profile” page in your re.alto account via the marketplace portal.
